Osteen's Church Helps with Ike's Stranded

CBNNews.com - Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church in Houston is mobilizing volunteers to help hurricane victims.

The megachurch pastor said the church is working with a number of groups to organize relief efforts. The city of Houston has also asked them to provide workers at food distribution sites.

Osteen Opens Church Doors for Evacuees

"It's just everyone coming together and doing their part," Osteen said. "Really, what I see here in the city is it brings out the best in people."

"It's about neighbors helping neighbors. You put aside your differences," he continued. "It doesn't matter what color you are or what denomination or even what faith you are. People are just reaching out and helping others, that's what its all about."

The ministry is also accepting donations to help hurricane victims.

Volunteers can also sign up at eleven different locations around the city at the church's Web site
